We are so happy to have had Donna Langhorne design our logo! Dr. Tait first saw Donna's work on display at Mistasinihk Place. This was a powerful seven piece series focusing on Reconciliation and contemporary issues in Indigenous communities. Sask Arts Board did a great interview and article with Donna on this work available here. After seeing these pieces, we knew Donna would be a great fit with our network and we worked together in early 2018 to workshop the logo and then had Cre8iv Communications (in La Ronge) digitize it for us.

About Donna

Donna Langhorne is a self-taught artist and lifelong resident of La Ronge, SK and a member of Fishing Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan. She has been painting professionally for seven years and has received grants from the Saskatchewan Arts Board and the Saskatchewan Foundation for the Arts. As a person of Plains Ojibway descent, she paints in many different styles such as Pop art, portraits, abstract, horror fan art, realism, realism 3D and has more recently (a few years ago) taken up the Anishinaabe Woodland style.

About our Logo

The Saskatchewan Indigenous Mentorship Network logo is Woodland Anishinaabe inspired. The beautiful woodland flowers are accompanied by the sacred birds, the group of people are symbolizing each powerful "Colour" of the Medicine Wheel. These images are surrounded by the power of the sweet grass, which Indigenous people (First Nations and Métis) use for smudging and ceremonies.
