Join us for miyo mahcihowin
The Saskatchewan Indigenous Mentorship Network is a new program working with students, faculty and community to create institutional supports and best practices that work to assist Indigenous students pursuing careers in academia, health, wellness, and community-based research.
We are partnering with the Gathering for miyo mahcihowin (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being) to co-host a mentorship activity. The Gathering for miyo mahcihowin is an innovative, groundbreaking, and collaborative gathering addressing health topics chosen by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit community partners in Saskatchewan.
It is taking place Thursday, March 15th and Friday, March 16th, 2018 at the Saskatoon Inn.
Who is invited? The Saskatchewan Indigenous Mentorship Network is inviting Indigenous high school students (Grades 11 and 12) with an interest in science, health and wellness to attend for one or both of the Gathering days and be partnered with a current University of Saskatchewan undergraduate or graduate student who has aligned academic interests. Students have the choice of attending either Thursday, March 15 or Friday, March 16.
No cost to attendees
We will sponsor the costs for the attendees (including meals), provide a welcome package, and an opportunity over lunch for the mentee/mentor pairs to come together and connect with one another and participating Indigenous academics and community members.
Next steps If you're a high school, ASAP, undergraduate or graduate student interested in attending as a mentee or mentor, please fill out the form below. We have up to 20 spots available for high school mentees and 20 spots available for University mentors each day.
